Technoir Shipyards was formed from the merger of various European manufacturers towards the end of the 21st century.

Technoir is active in all systems, yet they rarely market ships under their own name. Instead, vessels are distributed under the branding of parent companies such as Dassault or Airbus.

In addition to commercial vessels, they maintain a smaller military division. In the Ionos System, Technoir operates a shipyard for medium-sized military vessels on Diony. Zero-G shipyards are operated in other systems. Civilians are most familiar with the Valkyre-SSTOs—slender, elegant ships used on many planets for passenger transport to and from orbit.

As a major employer in the Ionos System, Technoir wields significant political influence.
